Hello and welcome back to PZTL,

This week (after a newsletter delay), I’m writing to you from Queensland, Australia! There’s a farmstay a little away from the city of Mackay, and I’ve volunteered here to get a great, focused start to 2026.

Aside from talking about this, we’ll start the issue with some new content (finally)…

Frictionless Progress Tracking in Obsidian

The first Medium article in a while, this piece goes over a little about my most up-to-date strategy for using Folder notes in Obsidian, including how I’ve been tracking project progress within them.

I’ll show you how I use the QuickAdd plugin to make changes to things quickly and consistently with shortcuts and templates included, as well as how I envision this feature being used in the future.

(I’ll give you a clue - it includes AI and making summaries of your progress over long periods of time. I’ve been using it with my chronological tracking of PARAZETTEL and it’s been great!)

Life updates (focusing on saving some money)

Unfortunately there aren’t many more PARAZETTEL Updates than this to share, because of the fact that I’ve spent Christmas in Bali and haven’t been able to write or create much there.

Now I’m settled into Australia for a few weeks after having moved about quite a lot since Vietnam in October/November, and I’m on a mission to save some money.

Aside from flying down to Canberra for my next volunteering gig, I’m at ground-zero for expenditure. Everything will be considered and excluded if needs be.

This is because I’d love to keep travelling and if I don’t make things improve on an income to outgoings ratio then we’re going to be looking at quite a short 2026 stint of time abroad.

We’ll see how it goes.

See you on Sunday (this week - I’m sorry again for the lack of newsletter last weekend!),

– Theo
