This is a piece that I might normally post on my newsletter, Fundamentalised. But I realise there’s a portion of my readers who only access me through Medium, so I thought, seeing as my life has changed quite a lot in the two months, that I’d put together a small round-up to let you know what’s been happening…
Life Changes — Graduation and Travel
If you’ve read any one of my Medium articles that I’ve posted in the last two and a half years, you’ll have read work that I’ve written whilst being a student at the University of Sheffield.
And for the last month, for the first time since the starting article back in January 2023, this has not been the case — I am now a full graduate of the University with a BSc in Zoology…
However, as of right now, I don’t have an official job, and whilst I was looking for housing away from my childhood home with one of my friends from Sheffield, this became the sole roadblock to us getting somewhere to live.
But I’ve been wanting to work on my business teaching personal knowledge management since I started selling products back in September 2023. So instead of sacrificing that business in favour of stable income, I’ve decided to work on the business full-time.
Just a couple of days ago, I booked a plane ticket to Thailand with plans to travel the rest of Southeast Asia because the remote work and entrepreneurship cultures are quite strong there.
Hopefully, surrounding myself with people who are doing similar things to me will inspire more scaling of the business than has been happening in the last two years.
But the business is a lot about what I write on this Medium channel. So now I’m going to go and tell you a little bit more about how PARAZETTEL has changed and how it’s going to be able to help you…
PARAZETTEL Upgrades and Improvements
The only product that was sold for PARAZETTEL for the time between September 2023 and March 2025 was the PARAZETTEL for Obsidian vault.
This was a canned template for Obsidian. Admittedly, I’d written a lot of theory and instruction notes inside of it, but coming around to this year, I realised that sticking to a template wasn’t the most effective way to teach, sell, and productize my knowledge.
And so quietly, back in March of this year, I launched the PARAZETTEL community on Skool. It’s designed to be a place where you can build a personal connection with me and learn from the best of all the resources that I’ve built and continue to improve.
Over the last weekend, things changed when I announced the retirement of the PARAZETTEL for Obsidian vault, in favour of a new product called the PARAZETTEL Course.
Now this new course is found inside the PARAZETTEL Community. Whilst it has a lot of the same video and text material that was found in the instructions section of the Obsidian vault, now it’s online, you don’t have to re-download anything when you want the upgrades and improvements.
Looking further down the line, I want to completely refactor this course one day into something that’s tool-agnostic, so I can continue my shift towards teaching general knowledge management theory and practices, as opposed to being tied to just talking about one app — Obsidian.
And so you might be wondering what I’ve done with the rest of the vault, namely the folder structure and functional system template…
And the answer — you can get the PARAZETTEL Obsidian template completely for free now. There’s a link below to try out the folder structure and see the demonstrations of the system and how I’ve been using it myself in my work, progress and study since the middle of 2022.
I hope that this will be a useful introduction to the PARAZETTEL system that I’ve developed, and that when the users of the free vault want some more insight, they’ll consider the Course and Community.
I’m going to start writing more articles now, because even as I’ve made all of these changes and had all of these life upgrades and improvements going on, I’ve neglected the organic traffic and content.
And this feels wrong because it’s this work that I’ve been putting out that has so steadily grown my audience and business right from the start of 2023.
So effort’s being diverted back into this from now on. Seeing as I’ve made the business improvements and back-end changes that will largely automate people being able to get their hands on the PARAZETTEL Course, it makes sense to focus on the things that can only be done manually.
